M State dropped a pair of games to Hudson Valley Community College at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Florida on Wednesday. The Spartans fell 11-8 in the first game of their double header and then dropped the nightcap, 12-5.
They will play the final two games of their Florida trip on Thursday with a game against Moraine Valley Community College and another against Waubonsee Community College.
Leading hitters for the Spartans in game one were Isaac Hamman (3-3, HR, 3RBI, 2R), Ben Monson (2-4, HR, 3RBI, R), Evan Lunde (2-4, R), Eoghan Fisher (1-5, RBI) and Tyson Barthel (2-4). Hunter Holtti pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing 4 hits, one earned run and striking out 3 batters.
In the second game, Barthel (2-4, RBI), Monson (2-3), Logan Pulju (2-3, BB, R), Fisher (1-3, RBI, BB) and Lunde (1-3. RBI, R) were the leading hitters for M State.
