Brandon-Evansville turned in a solid inside game on Thursday night as they defeated the Ashby Arrows 50-42 in Section 6A boys’ basketball action in Evansville.  B-E shot just 33.3% (19-57), but held Ashby to only 27% (15-55) shooting on the night.  The Chargers led 25-16 at the half and held on for the 8 point victory, advancing to a quarterfinal round matchup with Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa.

Riley Perleberg (11 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals) and Micah Fuller (10 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal) both finished in double figures for the Chargers.  Tanner Riedel added 8 rebounds and Dustin Gillespie contributed 7 points, 5 rebounds and a pair of assists.

Kellen Dahlen led the Arrows with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.  Richie Johnson contributed 10 points, 7 rebounds and a pair of assists.  Easton Nelson had a team high 5 assists to go along with 2 steals, 2 blocks, 9 rebounds and 6 points.

“The active Charger defense had a great deal to do with our shooting difficulties,” commented Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “Good looks at the basket were hard to come by.  We also struggled to keep our composure.”

The Arrows season ends with an overall record of 11 wins and 16 losses.  “Seniors Fred Schlotfeld, Richie Johnson, Jake Norby, and Kellen Dahlen finished their high school basketball careers.  We wish them all the best as they pursue their future goals,” concluded Coach Holsten.
