“We played too fast as that is what they wanted and we weren't able to be disciplined enough to not play that style,” said Barnesville Head Coach Matt Askegaard. “We built a double digit lead in the second half only to see it slowly evaporate for a few reasons. We got ourselves into some foul trouble, got stagnant on offense and didn't move the ball effectively and they got hot from the 3-point line in the second half. Not the type of recipe to win in the playoffs.  However, we had opportunities and they slipped through our fingers. After losing the lead, we were able to keep battling and get the game to overtime, but we weren't able to close the deal.”

Carson McDonald poured in 31 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and had a couple of steals to lead the Green Wave.  Austin Rusling registered a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while adding 5 assists and 2 steals.  Chase Lindgren contributed 10 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

Gannon Bolgrean (26 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals) and Zach Bredman (13 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists) each recorded a double-double.  Nick Robideau was also in double figures with 12 points.  Ethan Larson had a solid, all-around game, scoring 5 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, dishing out 2 assists and coming up with 3 steals.

“I feel for our seniors and all of the boys as they put a great amount of time and effort into the program,” noted Coach Askegaard. “The loss is unfortunate, but the sun comes up the next day and we are all better people for the time and effort we all put towards this great game.  We end the season with an overall record of 20-8, 10-2 in the HOL. This was good enough for a share of the conference championship, the first since 2002. We cannot let this loss define what these young men accomplished this season. We created a great amount of memories and relationships that we will cherish.”
