Hornets Hold Off Park Christian for 49-45 Victory

The Henning boys’ basketball team was able to hold on for a 49-45 victory over Park Christian School on Saturday afternoon in Perham, as the Hornets moved into the Section 6A semifinals with the win.  They will now face Ada-Borup/West at the Hive in Perham at 7:00pm Wednesday night.

 

“Any win in March is a good win,” stated Henning Head Coach Randy Misegades. “Things certainly did not come easy, but we found a way to win. We really struggled offensively, but we did enough good things on the defensive end to come out on top. We’ll get back to work at practice on Monday to prepare for a really talented Ada-Borup team.” 

The Hornets were led by 26 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds from Kale Misegades, 12 points and 4 rebounds from Logan Kostelecky, and 9 points, 5 assists and 9 rebounds from Teigan BjerkeLane Dilly secured a team high 10 rebounds and led the team with 3 steals.  Henning struggled with their shooting, making just 34% of their field goal attempts.  The Hornets took excellent care of the basketball, turning it over only 8 times.

Park Christian made 34% of their field goal attempts and only 3-of-20 3’s.  Logan Giese scored a team high 22 points and Tyler Loeb had 8 points and 7 rebounds.  Dan Swiers finished with 6 points and 8 rebounds, and Bridger Carlson had 5 points and 7 boards.  The Falcons end their season with a record of 19-9.

Henning takes a 26-2 mark into their Wednesday night encounter with the Cougars (23-5).
