Second-seeded Ada-Borup/West had a commanding 38-21 advantage on the boards and scored 19 points off 18 Battle Lake turnovers as they handed the Battlers a 71-50 loss in the Section 6A playoffs on Thursday night in Ada.  The Cougars shot 48.3% (29-60) from the floor and Battle Lake made 41.3% (19-46) of their shots.

The Cougars were led by Austin McCraven (23 points, 10/12 FG, 8 rebounds, 2 assists), Cameron Spaeth (15 points, 6 assists, 6 steals), Lance Kritzberger (12 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals), Mason Larson (1 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists) and Charles Scholl (8 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals).

Mason Dalluge (15 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals) paced the Battlers.  Jack Mekalson added 12 points and 5 assists and Maddox Mekalson finished with 10 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.  Braxtyn Cameron contributed 7 points and 6 rebounds, while Aidan Heggem chipped in 6 points and a couple of steals.

"It's always tough to see the season come to an end,” stated Battle Lake Head Coach Brady Cameron.  “Our guys have been through a lot this year and have played their hearts out for the Battle Lake Battlers.  Tonight we just turned the ball over too much and that led to too many easy buckets for the Cougars.  Offensively, I think some of our guys were too unselfish at times and passed up some really good looks.  Defensively, we played solid in the 1/2 court, it was just the points off turnovers and second chance points that hurt us.  I want to thank our 4 seniors that have poured their heart and soul into this game and into this team, they will all be greatly missed next season."

Ada-Borup West (22-5) will now face Hillcrest Lutheran Academy (23-4) at 1:00pm Saturday in a Section 6A quarterfinal contest at the Hive in Perham.

Battle Lake ends their season with a record of 15-13.
