Lady Cards Lead from Start to Finish Against Otters, Winning 2nd Straight 8AAA Title

The Alexandria Cardinals scored the first 5 points of the game on Thursday night and led 11-7 when they went on a 10 point run to establish a double digit lead.  They never looked back, building the lead to 35-14 at the half and sending the game to running time midway through the second half on the way to a 73-29 victory over Fergus Falls.  With the win the Cardinals successfully defended their Section 8AAA title.

 

Allie Haabala was on fire from 3-point range, hitting six treys on the night, five of them in the first half.  She led all scorers in the game with 22 points.  Hadley Thul added 19, scoring 13 of them in the second half.  Macee Linow scored 13 and Kate Hennessy added 11 as the lady Cards placed four players in double figures.

Brynn Sternberg led Fergus Falls with 12 points and Hattie Fullhart added 8.

The Otters had a tough shooting night, turned the ball over 16 times and lost the rebounding battle as they ended their season with a record of 19-10.

Alexandria heads to the Class 3A State Tournament with a record of 24-4.  They have won their last five games.
