Knights win home playoff opener over Cowboys

The #1 seeded West Central Area Knights took a 43-13 halftime lead on their way to an opening round 74-40 win over the Breckenridge Cowboys.

Leaders for the Knights were Mitch Dewey with 16 points, 7 assists and 5 steals; Ben Bye had 15 points and 7 rebounds; Bryce Kjesbo had 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists; Sam Hanson had 9 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals; Cam Anderson had 8 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals; Nas Dotts had 5 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals; Cash Nelson had 5 points, Marshall Dewey had 2 points and 2 assists, and Owen Sanstead had 1 point and 1 rebound.

 

Knights Coach Kraig Hunter said, "We had good contributions from everyone again. Our captains, Mitch Dewey, Bryce Kjesbo and Cam Anderson are all so well rounded and all had good all-around games including assists and rebounds. Sam and Nas were their usual selves diving all over the floor and making several great hustle plays. Ben was very efficient again and we got good minutes from all of our bench players Marshall Dewey, Owen Sanstead, Cash Nelson, Dane Anderson and Brady Lindquist."

Scoring for the Cowboys were Cooper Roberts with 9 points, Kaleb Albertson 8, Jacob Kunkel 7, Beau Beyer 7, Aidan Sanchez 5, Connor Ernst 2, and Colin Suko 2.

The Knights will play the Border West Buccaneers at 1:00 pm at Minnewaska Area High School in Glenwood on Saturday. BBE and Brandon-Evansville will play the 2:45 game.
