Landon Bakke poured in 29 points, Brevin Stoa added 24 and Noah Nelson contributed 19 to lead the Hawley Nuggets to a 92-75 victory over the Roseau Rams in the Section 8AA boys’ basketball playoffs on Thursday night.  Roseau was led by Jordan Borowicz with 39 points and Gunnar Lund with 24.

“Tonight we made a lot of playoff cliches come true,” commented Head Coach Nate Stoa of Hawley. “Big players made big plays throughout the evening. We had our hands full with the Jordan Borowicz-Gunnar Lund combo in the first half and dug ourselves a hole in the first ten minutes. We flipped a switch, relaxed, and started playing good basketball and went on a run to be down by only 4 at the half. The second half we had some huge performances from Landon Bakke, hitting six needed 3s with Brevin Stoa on the bench in foul trouble, and Jaxon Schenck playing great defense and finishing around the rim.”

Hawley advances to play at Park Rapids on Saturday night.
