Concordia College in Moorhead has seen its share of fantastic high school basketball tournament games in March and the Pelican Rapids Vikings and Hawley Nuggets added another instant classic to the list on Wednesday night in the 8AA girls' basketball semifinals.  Hawley led 31-16 at halftime and increased their lead to 20 points early in the second half.  Pelican Rapids went on a 23-2 run to pull to within one and caught the Nuggets on an Anna Roisum 3-pointer to force overtime.  The Vikings out-scored the Nuggets 9-2 in the extra 4 minutes of play to record a 60-53 victory and move into the Championship game against Perham on Friday night.

In the overtime, Roisum hit a 3 to give the Vikings a 54-51 lead.  Izzy Steer made a pair of free throws to cut the Pelican Rapids lead to 54-53, but the Nuggets were unable to score any other points in OT.  Ellie Welch connected on a two-point field goal and Morgan Korf went 4-for-4 on her overtime free throws, finishing 11-of-13 from the line on the night.

Korf led the Vikings with 20 points and she added 7 rebounds.  Welch registered a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.  Ari Hovland had 4 3-pointers for 12 points and Roisum contributed 13 points.

Ingrid Rustad led Hawley with 17 points.  McKenna Walker buried four 3's to finish with 12 points and Steer ended up with 10.  The Nuggets ended their season with a 15-12 record.

Pelican Rapids improves their season record to 25-3.  The second-seeded Vikings will face top-seeded Perham, also 25-3, at 7:00pm Friday at Concordia for the Section 8AA title and a state tournament berth.
