The State High School Wrestling Tournament concluded on Saturday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Two area wrestlers finished as runners-up in their respective weight classes in Class A, one was a runner-up in Class AA and another claimed second place in the Girls Division.
In Class A, David Revering (160) of Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie was runner-up, losing a 1-0 decision in the championship match. Will Rustan (285) of West Central Area/Ashby/Brandon-Evansville was second, falling in the title match, 7-2.
Other Class A results saw Bailey Peichel (145) of Frazee take fourth place and Preston Mayfield (172) of the Hornets come in fifth. Sixth place finishers were Owen Gruchow (127) of West Central Area/Ashby/Brandon-Evansville, Cameron Halverson (160) of Barnesville, and Eli Roiko (189) of United North Central.
In AA, Caleb Johnson (215) of Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton was a runner-up, while Carson Byer (152) of Perham ended up in fourth place.
In the girls' competition, Abby Ervasti (170) of Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie) claimed second place, and Lucea Wales (124) of West Central Area/Ashby/Brandon-Evansville was sixth.
