With their 52-44 win over the Willmar Cardinals on Saturday night, the Fergus Falls girls' basketball team has advanced to the Section 8AAA title game against Alexandria on Thursday night at a location to be determined.

Fergus Falls won the battle of the boards, 41-27, led by Bella Anderson with 14 rebounds.  She also had 3 blocked shots.  Scoring leaders for the Otters were Brynn Sternberg with 16, Ruby Ellison with 14 and Carlee Hirst with 11.  Hattie Fullhart finished with 9 points.  Ellison completed a double-double by securing 10 rebounds on the night.

Neither team shot the ball well as the Otters hit 34% of their field goal attempts and only 19% from beyond the arc, and Willmar made 29% of their attempts and 29% of their 3's.  The Otters did make 13-of-16 from the free throw line.

"The Roosevelt gym provided a great environment for a playoff game and this was a fun win for our girls," stated Fergus Falls Head Coach Josh Steer.  "This was about as tough and physical as we have played and I am really pleased with how we battled on both ends of the floor."

Fergus Falls takes a record of 19-9 into their matchup with the Cardinals, who are 24-3.
