The Frazee Hornets nearly pulled off a huge upset in Section 8AA girls' basketball on Saturday night, however, #2 seeded Pelican Rapids survived the scare, posting a 71-62 triple overtime victory. The game was tied at 52-52 at the end of regulation and at 57-57 after the first OT. A Morgan Korf 3 at the end of the second overtime period left the score tied at 62-all, forcing overtime number three. The Vikings finally put the game away with a 9-0 run in the third OT.
Korf finished with a game high 28 points and wound up with a triple-double in the game, adding 14 assists and a dozen rebounds. She also collected 5 steals. Ellie Welch (20 points, 15 rebounds, 4 steals) registered a double-double, and Anna Roisum ended up with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals.
Frazee was led by Jayden Sonnenberg with 19 and Brynn Larson with 16. Riyan Eckert contributed 12 points for the Hornets.
Frazee finishes their season with a final record of 13-13.
Pelican Rapids (24-3) will now face Hawley (15-11) on Wednesday in a Section 8AA semifinal at 7:30pm at Concordia College in Moorhead. The Nuggets upset third-seeded Menahga, 48-27, on Saturday night.
