In front of their home crowd, the Ashby Arrows Boys Basketball team erased a twenty-point second half deficit to claim a 70-68 overtime victory over the Brandon-Evansville Chargers on Thursday night.  The score was tied at 60 all at the end of regulation.  The Chargers jumped out to a 33-18 lead at halftime.

Senior post player Jake Norby led the way for the Arrows netting 19 of his 21 points during the second half and overtime.  After being held scoreless in the first half, junior point guard Easton Nelson responded with a 5-point second half and 5-point overtime to reach double figures.  Richie Johnson scored 9 in the second half and 13 for the game.  Before fouling out Kellen Dahlen contributed 13 and Traeton Nelson added 10 points.  Senior 6th man Fred Schlotfeld knocked down a huge 3-point basket in the second half.

"The game turned as a result of improved passing and finishing around the basket by the Arrows," reported Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  "We shot 29% (8/28) in the first half and improved to 53% (18/34) in the second and overtime frames.  The Chargers scored twice as many 3 pointers (8-4) as we did and made more free throws (16-13) than we attempted but our effort got much better as the game went on.  The boys just kept playing and competing."

It was the final home game for four Arrow seniors - Kellen Dahlen, Richie Johnson, Jake Norby, and Fred Schlotfeld.  "They have taught us about the importance of preparation, leadership, and teamwork needed in any competitive athletic program," noted Coach Holsten.  "Their contributions to the Ashby Boys Basketball program will be deeply missed."

The Arrows end the regular season with an 11-15 overall record and 7-9 in the Little Eight Conference.  They await the results of the seeding Saturday to learn the site and opponent for the first round of the playoffs which will be held either Monday or Thursday.

"We shot 16-of-29 from the free throw line," commented B-E Head Coach Trent Hintermeister. "That doesn't win basketball games. We let Ashby dictate the pace and physicality throughout the last 10 minutes of the game. They deserved to win. Congrats to their 4 seniors on fantastic careers."

Brandon-Evansville ends their season with a record of 12-14.  They were 9-7 in Little Eight Conference play.
