Otter Girls Advance to 8AAA Semifinals with Win Over St. Cloud

Fergus Falls scored the first 8 points of the game on Thursday night, went on a 12-0 run to increase their lead to 27-9 and held a 27-11 halftime lead over the St. Cloud Crush as they went on to record a 59-48 win in their quarterfinal round contest in the Section 8AAA playoffs.

 

Brynn Sternberg scored 20 of her 22 points in the second half, however, St. Cloud cut the Otters lead to 9 points on two different occasions.  The Crush were led by Jayna Benson's 17 point second half, scoring 19 on the night. 

Fergus Falls went 18-for-29 on the free throw line, compared to 6-of-13 for the Pirates.

The Otters connected on 7 3-point field goals in the game.

Julia Hajicek scored 9 points for Fergus Falls and Carlee Hirst added 8, including 6-of-8 from the line.  Bella Anderson had a superb defensive game and led the Otters with 13 rebounds.

The Otters improved their season record to 18-9.  They will host a semifinal round playoff game against Willmar on Saturday at 7:00pm.  The Cardinals posted a 47-37 win over Rocori in their quarterfinal round contest.
