University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire senior Sophie Rausch has had an amazing career for the Blugolds, and it’s not over yet. Her team will be battling UW-River Falls for the WIAC championship on Saturday, March 2 as the two teams try to lay claim to the O’Brien Cup as conference champs. UW-Eau Claire (21-6-0, 9-3-0 WIAC) is currently ranked 6th in NCAA Division III Women’s Hockey.
Rausch set a record for goals in a WIAC playoff game when she tallied 4 goals, including a natural hat trick, last Friday night in the Blugolds 6-2 victory over UW-Superior. In their 4-1 win over UW-Superior on Saturday, Rausch made history as she scored two more goals, including career goal number 100, which was her 50th point of the season, a single season points record for the Blugolds.
