Knights win over Owls on Senior Night

The West Central Area Knights celebrated their six seniors and senior manager Alaina Sykora on senior night with an 81-49 win over the Hancock Owls.  The Knights used balance again as they had seven players score between 9 and 14 points and all six seniors scored.  

The Knights led 44-22 at halftime.  Scoring for the Knights were Mitch Dewey 14, Cam Anderson 13, Sam Hanson 12, Marshall Dewey 10, Bryce Kjesbo 9, Nasir Dotts 9, and Ben Bye 9.  Seniors Dane Anderson and Brady Lindquist rounded out the scoring with 3 and 2 points, respectively.

 

Knights Coach Kraig Hunter said, "You couldn't write a better script for senior night. They are a close group and were all playing for each other and all six seniors scored. Our coaching staff was really pleased with the great passing and unselfishness as we had 24 of our 32 baskets were assisted again."

The assists were also balanced. Cam Anderson led the way with 8, Dotts 4, Mitch Dewey 4, Kjesbo 4, Hanson 2, Bye 1, and Dane Anderson 1.

The Knights forced numerous Owl turnovers. Steal leaders were Dotts with 5, Cam Anderson and Bye 3 each and Mitch Dewey, Hanson and Kjesbo all with 2.  

Rebound leaders were Bye 7, Mitch Dewey 6, Hanson, Dotts and Kjesbo 5 each.

Scoring for the Owls were Chase Evink with 11, Hudson Versteeg 9, Preston Kisgen 9, Brayden Kissgen 8, Ryan Meirding 4, Trey Holm 3, Riley Miller 3, and Jordan Chung 2.

Hunter added, "It was a fun night to honor these fine young men Brady Lindquist, Dane Anderson, Nasir Dotts, Bryce Kjesbo, Mitch Dewey and Camden Anderson for their dedication and the way they continue to represent themselves in our school and community."

The Knights are now 22-3 and will play Border West in Wheaton on Friday night. The Owls are now 11-14 and will host BBE on Friday night.
