It was a grind at Jack’s Place in Brainerd for the Central NW Conference Tournament on Sunday.  Both the Maroon and Gold Fergus Falls teams made it through the qualifier round into the bracket, with both teams dropping their semi-final matches.

Fergus Falls Maroon was seeded number two after the eight games of qualifying, and had a 24 pin lead over the host team, Brainerd, after one game in the two-game, total-pin semi-final match.  Brainerd came out hot in game two, starting with a spare and then six strikes in row.  The big start was good enough to record their high game of the season, and move into the final match against Sauk Rapids-Rice/Rocori, St Cloud.  Brainerd had a one pin lead over SRRC after game one, but the big guns took over for SRRC, and they cruised to the win and the conference championship.  Alayna Price was team-high for Maroon on the day, filling at 74%.

Fergus Falls Gold was in a close battle with Perham/Menahga/Detroit Lakes all day for the final bracket spot, with the two teams taking turns with the lead in total pins.  Fergus Falls Gold took over for good in the last two games, earning a semi-final matchup with SRRC.  Grace Gaines and KayLea Weisenberger led Gold for the tournament, both filling at 66%.

Fergus Falls Maroon earned an at-large invite to the State Tournament by way of their 10-2 regular season record, and will compete on Sunday, Dec 3, at Drkulas 32, in Inver Grove Heights.

The GMHSB All-Conference Tournament will be on Saturday, Dec 2, at AMF Saxon Lanes in Little Canada.  Otter bowlers qualifying for the tournament are Alayna Price, Kaydence Knutson, Maddie Price, and Kendra Koep.
