The crowd at the Rex Haugen Court Dedication ceremony in Pelican Rapids on Saturday included his 3 daughters, Kim, Stacy and Kristy, many of Haugen's former players, former coaches who coached against Haugen over the years, faithful Pelican Rapids fans, and basketball fans from all around the area, some even flying in from out-of-state to attend the event.

The ceremony took place between the JV and Varsity games on Saturday afternoon as the Vikings boys' basketball team hosted Ada-Borup/West.  Players from the 1969, 1977, 1984 and 1993 teams delivered messages to Coach Haugen and WDAY news anchor, Dana Mogck, was the guest speaker at the event, which was emceed by former Vikings Coach Doug Bruggeman.  Coach Haugen also addressed the large crowd gathered to honor him and his coaching legacy.
