Sternberg Reaches 1000 Career Points in Fergus Falls Loss at Alexandria

Fergus Falls junior Brynn Sternberg reached the 1000 point milestone for her career on Friday night as she scored 10 points in the Otters 79-44 loss to the Alexandria Cardinals.  Sternberg also led the team with 6 rebounds.  Ruby Ellison and Hattie Fullhart each contributed 10 points and Ellison pulled down6 rebounds.  The Otters and Cardinals each had 33 team rebounds in the contest.

 

 

Hadley Thul had a big night for Alexandria with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.  Chloe Scholl (15 points, 7 rebounds) and Kate Hennessy (11 points, 5 rebounds) were also in double digits for the home team.  The lady Cards made 9 3-point field goals in the game and took excellent care of the ball, with only 6 turnovers.

Alexandria shot the ball at a 52% clip and made 38% of their 3-point shots.

Fergus Falls struggled from the field, making just 27% of their shots and only 11% of their 3's.

"We played well for the first 15 minutes, but ran out of gas near the end of the half and they were able to go up 14 at the break," reported Head Coach Josh Steer of the Otters.  "We showed our fatigue in the second half and they really played strong, physical defense on us."

Alexandria finishes the regular season with an overall record of 22-4 and a perfect 14-0 mark in the Central Lakes Conference.

Fergus Falls ends up 17-9 overall and 8-6 against Central Lakes Conference teams.
