Led by senior perimeter player Richie Johnson and his career best 23 points, the Ashby Arrows recorded a hard earned 68-55 road victory over the Ortonville Trojans on Thursday night.  The Arrows held a 33-28 halftime advantage.  Junior point guard Easton Nelson joined Johnson in double figures with 21 points.  Kellen Dahlen grabbed 11 rebounds to go along with his 7 points.  Jake Norby had 9 points. Traeton Nelson and Fred Schlotfeld finished with 6 and 2 points, respectively.

Ortonville was led by Ellis Longnecker who scored 16 points.  Quentin Kuefler had 13 and Cadyn Vanderwal finished with 12 points.

The Arrows shot 42% (27/64) from the field including 37.5% (6/16) from behind the 3-point line.  They held a slim 32-31 rebounding advantage.

“The lead changed hands a few times during the first half until we went on a mini-run to end the half with a two possession lead,” said Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “We came out of the break with an excellent eight minute stretch of play at both ends of the court to seize a lead that grew to 20 points at one time.”

The win improves the Arrows overall record to 10-15.  The final game before the playoffs will be next Thursday when they host the Brandon-Evansville Chargers.
