Spartan Men Pull Out 82-80 Thriller at St. Cloud

Khamani Steckler led the M State Mens’ Basketball team with 19 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists on Wednesday night as the Spartans pulled out a thrilling 82-80 victory over St. Cloud Technical and Community College in their final game of the season.  Belind Alemadi hit a fade away jumper from the free throw line with 1.6 seconds remaining for the game winner.

With the win, M State finishes with a final record of 14-13 and a 6-8 mark in the MCAC Southern Division.

 

Joining Steckler in double figures were Alemadi (19 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals), Javin Tindall (13 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals) and Mikele Kambalo (11 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists.  Tyson McArthur contributed 8 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists.

M State had a nine point lead at 55-46, but the Cyclones went on a 15-2 run to take a 61-57 advantage.  The game was tied with 1:30 to go and the Spartans led by 5 with just thirty seconds remaining.  St. Cloud hit a 3 to cut the margin to 2 points and then tied it at 80-80 with 13 seconds to play, following a Spartan turnover.  That set the state for Alemadi's heroics.

The Spartans made 46% (32-70) of their field goal attempts and buried 10-of-22 (45.5%) 3-pointers.  They also made 8-of-10 free throws and won the rebounding battle 43-35.

St. Cloud was led by MJ Galimah (17 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals), Isaiah Foster (16 points), Mathew Ellingson (12 points, 4 rebounds), Tre Michaels (9 points, 3 rebounds), Xavier Jordan (8 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists) and Tong Diing (6 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists).  The Cyclones shot 40% (29-72) from the field.
