The Fergus Falls boys’ hockey team ended their regular season with a 6-2 loss to Alexandria on Thursday night at the Community Arena. Shots were 38-37, Alexandria. Brady Metcalf stopped 35 of the 37 shots he faced in the Alexandria net, while Tim Nanson came up with 32 stops for the Otters.
Alexandria scored a pair of first period goals. Brody Berg scored from William Thornburg and Grady Suchy at 2:36, and Evan Anderson scored from Gage Castle and Suchy at 6:31.
Kellen Stenstrom’s power play goal from Shane Zierden five seconds into the second period cut the Cardinals lead to 2-1. Evan Klimek answered with a power play goal for Alexandria at 2:07, assisted by Anderson and Berg. At 5:35, a power play goal by Jack Welde, setup by Stenstrom and Griffin Babolian trimmed the Alexandria lead to 3-2. Jack Lamski scored from Niklas Schultz at 9:07 to make it 4-2. The Cardinals got another power play goal at 12:05 from Berg, assisted by Klimek and Lamski. Leonard Kompelien finished the scoring with an assist from Aidan Schneiderhan.
Fergus Falls finishes the regular season with an 8-17 overall record and a 5-8 record in the Central Lakes Conference.
Alexandria heads into the Section 6A Tournament with a 15-9-1 overall mark and a 4 game winning streak. They were 6-4-1 in the CLC.
