The Henning boys’ basketball team shot 45% (33-72) from the field on Thursday night, recording their fourteenth straight win as they improved their season record to 21-2 with a 78-49 victory over the Verndale Pirates. “Verndale is very much improved from earlier in the season,” said Henning Head Coach Randy Misegades. “They did a nice job disrupting our offensive movement and rhythm.”
Kale Misegades (24 points, 6 assists, 8 rebounds, 4 steals), Teigan Bjerke (14 points, 3 assists, 4 rebounds), Logan Kostelecky (12 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals) and Noah Umland (11 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 block) were all in double figures for the Hornets. Lane Dilly had a team high 11 rebounds, led the team with 7 assists and scored 6 points.
Jaden Schulke and Carter White led Verndale with 16 and 15 points, respectively. The Pirates made 48% (20-41) of their field goal attempts.
Henning (21-2, 13-0 PRC) has a home game with Bertha-Hewitt on Tuesday.
Verndale will play at New York Mills on Tuesday.
