Wheaton/Herman-Norcross jumped out to a 28-8 lead at Rothsay Thursday night, but the Tigers fought back to cut the gap to 13 points at halftime, trailing 37-24.  They fell behind 70-40 in the second half, went on a 20-0 run to get back in the game, and ended up on the short end of a 75-64 score.

Julia Schmidt led four Warriors in double figures with 23 points.  She also had 4 steals, 4 assists and 3 rebounds.  Jordyn Perry contributed 21 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals, Braylen Schmidt finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists, and Sadie Vipond registered a double-double (10 points, 13 rebounds).

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross shot 43% (27-63) from the field, made 50% (10-20) of their 3-pointers, and converted 12-of-16 (75%) free throws.

“I was proud of our girls for fighting to the end,” commented Head Coach Anita Heier of the Tigers.  “We were down big but they never gave up and executed down the stretch to get back within 8 points with a couple minutes to go.  Defense and rebounding continue to be an issue for us, but our effort is always there.”

Savannah Sullivan led Rothsay with 31 points.  Bethany Danielson and McKenzie Tillman were also in double digits with 15 and 13 points, respectively.

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross (10-15, 8-9 LEC) will end their regular season at home against Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Tuesday.

Rothsay (13-12, 8-10 LEC) will travel to Park Christian in Moorhead next Thursday for their regular season finale.
