Otter Girls Return to State with 5-1 Win over Northern Lakes in Section 6A

The Otter girls’ hockey team is going back to state!  Fergus Falls was a 5-1 winner over Northern Lakes on Tuesday night in the Section 6A championship match.  The Otters put 28 shots on the Northern Lakes net, scoring a pair of goals in each of the first two periods and adding a third period goal.

 

Fergus Falls scored at 9:03 of the first period when Brook Zierden converted a pass from Hannah Bye.  The Otters made it 2-0 on an unassisted, short-handed goal by Hannah Johnson at 15:54.

In the second period, Maggie Greenagel scored an unassisted goal at 3:48 to give the Otters a 3-0 advantage.  Ava Merta scored the lone Northern Lakes Goal, with assists from Jenna Stoerzinger and Jayden Wodarz.  Hannah Johnson’s second goal of the game came at 15:45 with assists from Averie Tonneson and Maddie Brimhall.

Johnson completed her hat trick at 5:36 of the third period with an assist from McKenzie Sjolie.

Ana Jyrkas faced only six shots, stopping 5 of them.
