The Verndale Pirates defeated the Ashby Arrows 76-64.  Ashby held a 28-23 lead at halftime.

Point guard Easton Nelson was the leading scorer for the Arrows with 24 points.  He was joined in double figures by Kellen Dahlen with 18 and Jake Norby who netted 10 points.

Verndale had four players reach double figures.  Jaden Schulke led the way with 18.  Carter White and Braylin DeLeon each had 16 points and Otto Lehmann came off the bench to contribute 13 points.  The Arrows shot 47% (27/57) overall from the field.  The major difference in the outcome of the game was Verndale's 21 of 29 makes at the free throw line while the Arrows could make just 2 of 6 attempts.

"We came out flat to start the second half," said Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  "The Pirates scored the first six points to take the lead.  We couldn't regain our composure offensively or defensively and we couldn't stop fouling.  We were out-coached, out-rebounded, and out-hustled."

The Arrows travel to Battle Lake on Tuesday.
