The M State Men's Basketball team turned in a solid 40 minutes of excellent basketball on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Western Technical College by a score of 91-70 in Fergus Falls. M State shot the ball at a 48% (35-73) clip and made 40% (10-25) of their 3's, and 11-of-14 free throws. They also dominated the boards, 53-31, and recorded 8 blocked shots, 7 of them coming in the first half.
Belind Alemadi had another superb game, registering a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while adding 3 assists, 2 steals and a pair of blocks. Mikele Kambalo delivered 20 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Khamani Steckler was strong inside throughout the game, finishing with 19 points,7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Steckler made 8-of-12 field goal attempts and hit 3-of-4 foul shots. Javin Tindall added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Tyson McArthur led the team with 3 blocked shots.
M State trailed only once in the game, at 12-11. Their halftime lead was 46-37 and at one time they led by 25 points in the second half.
Western Tech was led by Cullen Rauls with 22 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals. Dalton Collins came off the bench to hit 12 points, while Evan Mathews and Jalen Roman each delivered 9 points.
M State (13-11, 5-6 MCAC South) is now tied for the fourth and final playoff spot in the South as Anoka-Ramsey and Ridgewater both lost their games on Saturday and also sit a 5-6. The Spartans will play at Ridgewater Wednesday night in a game with definite playoff implications.
