The Battle Lake boys’ basketball team shared the ball well as they recorded 20 assists on 24 made baskets in their 58-54 win over Border West on Friday night.  "First thing is congrats to Mason Dalluge, the kid had an absolute monster of a game and came home with a triple-double in the win,” reported Battle Lake Head Coach Brady Cameron.  “He did it in an unconventional way as well with 12 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 blocks plus another 4 points and 6 steals on the night.  He very easily could have had a quadruple double as he had some very good looks from the floor that just wouldn't fall for him tonight.”

Jack Mekalson (19 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists), Braxtyn Cameron (11 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals) and Aiden Heggem (10 points, 7 rebounds) were all in double digits for the Battlers.  Maddox Mekalson added 9 points.  Battle Lake shot 41% on the night.

“Tonight's game had a playoff feel to it, 2 good teams battled for 36 minutes of fast paced, physical basketball,” noted Coach Cameron.  “It was great to have Aidan Heggem back tonight after missing Tuesday's game with illness. He ran the floor well offensively and got some easy buckets in transition and did a great job of rebounding tonight as well.  We also did a great job of sharing the ball with 20 assists on our 24 made shots tonight.  Defensively, one of our struggles was giving Kyle Kremer too many open looks as he had 22 of their 32 points in the 1st half and came out hot in the 2nd half as well scoring 10 quick points.  We changed up how we guarded him after that and Aidan Buehler did a good job of limiting him to finish the game.  Other than guarding Kremer, who was 10/20 from the floor, our defense was great all night."

Leaders for Border West were Kremer (32 points, 6 rebounds), Holden Rinke (8 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 6 steals), Nolan Wilson (6 points, 5 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks) and Jack Siegel (6 points, 6 rebounds).  The Buccaneers shot just 25.4% from the field.

Battle Lake (9-11, 6-8 LEC) has won 5 of their last 6 games.  They have home games coming up against Ashby on Tuesday and Bertha-Hewitt on Friday.

Border West (9-11, 6-7 LEC) will host Brandon-Evansville on Tuesday in Wheaton and will travel to Hancock for a game on Friday night.
