Thursday night was senior night for the Underwood boys’ basketball team and the Rockets sent their fans home happy as they defeated Lake Park-Audubon by a score of 76-53.  Underwood had a 40-33 halftime lead.  Although the focus was on the 4 seniors on the Rockets, sophomore Drew Evavold stole the show, reaching 1,000 career points with his second basket of the game.

“I want to start by thanking our four seniors, Gavin Pausch, Noah Link, Kyle Savage and Blayre Lundgren,” said Head Coach Kellen Shebeck.  “They have been a huge part of this program.  Their leadership on and off the court is something special, and they will all be missed!  We also celebrate Drew Evavold’s accomplishment tonight.  It’ a rare feat, especially from a sophomore.”

Evavold finished the game with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.  “Gavin Pausch had himself another solid night, guarding the opposing teams best player, while also racking up 5 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists, all with only 1 turnover,” noted Coach Shebeck.  “He has been so good all season, and is still continuing to improve!  Noah Link hit a pair of 3’s and had 3 rebounds and 3 assists and continues to be a solid outside threat for us.”

Hudson Risbrudt scored 20 points, Kaleb Hammes had 14 and Evan Lundgren contributed 9 points and 4 assists.

Underwood (12-9, 7-6 LEC) has a home game with Brandon-Evansville on Friday night.
