Brandon-Evansville and Wheaton/Herman-Norcross had quite a battle in a Little Eight Conference girls’ basketball contest in Evansville on Thursday night.  The Chargers flew out to a 16-6 lead, but went cold, scoring only 3 points over an 11 minute span.  Defense stayed strong though as B-E took a 23-17 halftime lead.  When it was all said and done the Chargers had a 58-50 victory over the Warriors.

“The offense kicked up a tick in the second half and after Wheaton/Herman-Norcross hit on some deep three’s they took a 44-42 lead,” reported Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Stepehn Schreiber.  “We responded right back with a layup from Haddy Baune, a three from Kylee Dingwall, and a three from Drea Fernholz to ice the game.”

Dingwall and Baune each scored 16 to lead the Chargers and Mia Elmer joined them in double digits with 10 points.  Ava Santjer chipped in with 7.

Julia Schmidt led the Warriors with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals.  Jordyn Perry contributed 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals.  Claire Rinke led the team with 8 rebounds and Carlie Schultz finished with 2 assists.

Brandon-Evansville (15-5, 10-5 LEC) will host Park Christian on Friday night.

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross (9-14, 7-8 LEC) has a home game with Hancock on Tuesday night.
