The Anoka-Ramsey women’s basketball team took a 33-22 halftime lead and went on to record a 57-45 victory over M State on Wednesday night. The Rams scored 25 points off 23 Spartan turnovers and held a 36-25 edge on the boards, pulling down 11 offensive rebounds. They shot 38.8% (19-49) from the field and made 40% (6-15) of their 3-pointers.
Makayla Holten scored 13 of her 17 points in the first half to lead Anoka-Ramsey. Alani Pettis had 12 of her 15 in the second half and Bella Kanz added 11 points. Rebound leaders were Pettis and Jordan McMahon with 8 each. Pettis also had 6 steals and McMahon added 5.
Itzel Slazar and Jayna Gronewold led the lady Spartans with 15 and 11 points, respectively. Gronewold added 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Mo Bugbee assisted on 4 baskets. Mia Blaskowski contributed 8 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocked shots off the bench.
M State (11-8, 5-4 MCAC South) will host Western Tech at 1:00pm Saturday. The lady Spartans are in fourth place in the South Division standings, a half-game behind Anoka-Ramsey.
