The Border West Buccaneers were 62-48 winners over Ashby on Tuesday night.  The Bucs shot 39.6% (21-53) from the field and held a 45-33 edge on the boards.    Border West assisted on 18 of their 21 made baskets.  They also made 14-of-22 free throws on the night, while Ashby went 5-for-12 on the line.

Nolan Wilson led the Bucs with 14 points and 4 assists.  Holden Rinke and Kyle Kremer had 13 points apiece.  Rinke secured 8 rebounds and 4 assists.  Gunnar Hoffman and Brayden Andrews added 8 points each.  Hoffman added 6 rebounds and 2 assists, while Andrews contributed 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Arrows had three players reach double figures.  Kellen Dahlen led with 14 points.  Easton Nelson had 13.  Richie Johnson contributed 10.  Dahlen, Nelson, and Jake Norby all grabbed 8 rebounds.  Ashby shot 30% (18/60) overall for the game and 42% (5/12) from the free throw line.

“Shooting at such a low percentage is not part of a winning strategy,” said Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “Border West did a good job of contesting many of our shots.  Open looks were hard to come by.  Our team defense was pretty good, but their defense was better.”

The Arrows overall record falls to 8-12 and 5-8 in the conference.  Ashby travels to West Central Friday to take on the state-ranked Knights.
