Nelson Stops 31 Shots in Shutout of Willmar

Ryan Nelson stopped all 31 shots he faced in the Fergus Falls net on Tuesday night.  The Otters scored six goals in their shutout victory over the Willmar Cardinals.  Fergus Falls had 32 shots on goal in the game.  Kellen Stenstrom scored a pair of goals and added an assist.  Leighton Buckmeier and Shane Zierden each had two assists.

 

Stenstrom got the scoring started at 11:22 of the first period with an assist from Zierden.  Zierden and Samuel Dirkman then assisted on a goal by Jack Welde at 16:17.

In the second period, Stenstrom scored from Welde and Buckmeier 33 seconds into the period, giving the Otters a 3-0 lead.  Welde’s power play goal from Stenstrom and Buckmeier at 5:36 increased the lead to 4-0 and an unassisted goal by Aiden Schake at 15:00 of the second period put the Otters in front 5-0.

The final goal of the game was scored by Adam Kennedy at 2:46 of the third period.  Wyatt Briese and Parker Thielke assisted on the goal.

Fergus Falls (7-15) will travel to Paynesville for a game against River Lakes on Thursday.
