Jayna Gronewold became the all-time scoring leader for M State Women’s basketball when she scored 21 points at Riverland College in Austin, leading the lady Spartans to a 58-40 victory over the lady Blue Devils.  Gronewold became just the second lady Spartan in team history to reach 1000 career points when she scored her first point of the game in the first quarter.  She broke Pam Ledding’s career mark of 1006 points in the second quarter and now has 1020 career points.

Gronewold added 9 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals and a block.  Mo Bugbee was also in double digits with 10 points.  Bugbee had a pair of blocked shots and pulled down 5 rebounds.  Mia Blaskowski and Madi Foss added 8 points each, and Foss finished with 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

M State shot 49% (21-43) from the field and made 7-of-8 free throws with Bugbee making all four of her foul shots.  They also took excellent care of the basketball, committing only 12 turnovers in the game.

The lady Spartans improved their record to 11-7 overall and 5-3 in the MCAC South.  They will host Anoka-Ramsey Community College on Wednesday at 5:30pm.
