Hawley and Perham got together for a hard fought night of Heart O’ Lakes Conference boys’ basketball on Friday in Hawley. Brevin Stoa’s 31 points led the Nuggets to a 59-54 victory over the Yellowjackets, with Noah Nelson scoring 12 and Landon Bakke adding 9 points.
“Perham has improved a lot since the beginning of the year, and they gave us some problems tonight,” said Head Coach Nate Stoa of Hawley. “We had huge defensive stops to go on a run to start the second half and battled to stay ahead. Stoa and Bakke were huge at the stripe to ice the game and conclude a good win for our squad. We’ll see how we can bounce back for a huge game with number 9 ranked Osakis on Saturday.
Ashton Detloff led Perham with 18 points, Maddux Swentik had 15 and Mason Happel finished with 11.
Perham (5-12) will play Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta at 3:15pm Saturday in Alexandria.
Hawley (9-8) has a 5:00pm game against Osakis on Saturday in Alexandria.
