The Hawley Nuggets got a huge game from Brevin Stoa, who scored 36 points to lead four players in double figures as the Nuggets recorded a 78-67 road win at Frazee on Tuesday night.  Landon Bakke added 15, Levi Lelm had 11 and Noah Nelson finished with 10 points. “This game was a battle,” commented Hawley Head Coach Nate Stoa.  “Back and forth in the first half.  In the second half we went on a couple good runs, but Frazee was relentless and kept knocking on the door.  Clutch threes by Levi Lelm and solid free throw shooting closed it out.”

Asher Blaine was the leading scorer for the Hornets with 21.  Adam Vigen scored 18 and Carter Sonnenberg added a dozen.

“There’s not a doubt in my mind that Frazee is better than their record and the most improved team in our area,” added Coach Stoa.  “Coach Vigen has done a great job.  We got big minutes and production in the first half out of Will Baker tonight. His minutes kept us afloat when Frazee made first half runs.  Landon Bakke hit big shots and took pressure off the other guards handling the ball.  Noah Nelson came back in after a shot to the face and rebounded tough tonight.  Tonight Brevin Stoa had a career-high, but really was efficient and let the game come to him.  At the end of the game he slammed the door on a comeback at the free throw line (10/10 on the night).”

Hawley (8-8, 4-4 HOL) will host Perham on Friday and will play Osakis at Alexandria High School on Saturday at 5:00pm.

Frazee (4-12) has a home game with New York Mills on Friday.
