The Alexandria girls’ hockey team put 42 shots on the Sartell/Sauk Rapids net on Thursday night and five of them found their mark as the Cardinals recorded a 5-0 victory at Bernick’s Arena in Sartell. Goaltender Rachael Mohr stopped all 14 of the shots she face in the Alexandria cage.
A goal by Cadence Ellingson at 2:24 of the first period was assisted by Lauren Hornstein and gave Alexandria a 1-0 advantage.
At 5:03 of the second period, Lillian Dutton converted a power play goal with assists from Emma Ramstorf and Julia Doherty. At 6:18 Doherty scored from Kennedy Ellingson and Jersey Severson for a 3-0 Alexandria lead.
Third period goals from Jada Waldorf at 13:13 and Kennedy Ellingson at 16:03 concluded the scoring. Waldorf’s goal was assisted by Kennedy Ellingson and Doherty, while Hornstein picked up the lone assist on Ellingson’s goal.
Alexandria (11-8) will travel to Maple Grove for a Friday night contest.
