The West Central Area girls’ basketball team won for a seventh straight time when they defeated Lake Park-Audubon 73-59 on Thursday in the semifinal round of the Valkyrie Division Tournament, part of the Minnesota National Bank Classic being played in Pelican Rapids. All five starters were in double figures for the lady Knights, who led 46-23 at the half, as they hit 10 first half 3-point shots.
Mya Foslien had a team high 16 points and Addy Staples finished with 15 points, 6 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. Macy Grosz contributed 14, Jadyn Styba had 12 points and 7 rebounds, and Sydney Ulrich had 12 points on 4 made 3’s.
Laura Schauer (19 points, 8 rebounds, 13-15 FT) and Taylor Schauer (15 points, 5-6 FT) led the Raiders, who made 20-of-25 free throws on the day.
West Central Area (8-2) will now face Underwood at 4:15pm Friday for the championship of the Valkyrie Division.
