The 6-2 Swanville Bulldogs traveled to Ashby the day before Christmas break to play the 0-8 Lady Arrows. The Arrows were coming off a Little Eight Conference loss to the Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Warriors and were ready to redeem themselves, but the Bulldogs had a different idea and were able to use strong post play and sharp shooting from the 3-point line to defeat the Arrows 68-34.

“The Lady Arrows showed more determination and hustle tonight to gain inside and passed the ball better around the perimeter to find their open teammate,” said Head Coach Eric Schoenbauer.

Senior BrookeLinn Finkelson led Arrows with 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots, younger sister Chloe Finkelson had a nice all-around game with 6 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals, 8th grader Laila Schroeder came off the bench in the 2nd half to help the Arrows in the scoring column by netting 5 points and dishing out 1 assist, Sophomore point guard Mia Thompson added 3 assists and 2 points and Junior Kaitlyn Finkelson ended the game with 3 rebounds and 1 point.

“I was pleased with the girls' effort tonight in the first half,” commented Coach Schoenbauer. “At practice we need to continue to work to have that same energy in both halves of the game. We've been discussing as a team to have more points than turnovers and the girls accomplished that tonight.”

The Lady Arrows are back in action on January 4 when they head to Hancock to play the 3rd ranked 7-0 Owls, in a LEC game.
