Wayzata Edges Lady Cards on Late Goal

The Alexandria girls’ hockey team fell to Wayzata on Tuesday, 3-2, at the Plymouth Ice Center.  Wayzata scored at the 12:13 mark of the first period when Shyla Sanders found the back of the net off an assist from Jane Leach.  The score remained 1-0 through the second period.

 

Alexandria tied the game with a goal from Lauren Hornstein at 1:37 of the third period.  Kennedy Ellingson assisted on the goal.  Jersey Severson put the lady Cards in front, 2-1, with a goal at 3:34.  Ellingson and Julia Doherty earned assists.  Wayzata pulled even at 11:27 when Jenna Britz scored from Davy Mokelke, and Britz then notched the game winner from Nicole Britz with just 22 seconds left in regulation.

Rachael Mohr stopped 20 of the 23 shots she faced in the Alexandria net.  The lady Cards put 26 shots on goal.
