The Hancock boys’ basketball team raced out to a 50-15 halftime lead on Friday and finished with a 72-28 victory over the Ashby Arrows. Hancock made 29-of-59 field goal attempts and held a 38-26 edge on the boards. Defensively, the Owls held the Arrows to under 25% shooting on the night, including 1-of-15 from 3-point range.
Hudson Ver Steeg registered a double-double with 27 points and 13 rebounds. He also added 3 assists. Chase Evink added 11 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists, Brayden Kisgen had 11 points, 3 assists and 3 steals, and Trey Holm contributed 10 points, 4 assists and 3 steals.
Ashby was led by 10 points from Easton Nelson. Jake Norby and Frederick Schlotfeld added 6 points apiece.
Hancock (2-3) plays at Battle Lake on Tuesday, while Ashby (3-3) travels to Fergus Falls to face Hillcrest Lutheran Academy.
