The Perham Yellowjackets and Barnesville Trojans locked up and the result was an entertaining game. Barnesville came out ready and were on fire for most of the night to take away an 80-73 win. Abby John dominated the 1st half of the game as the Jackets struggled to get consecutive stops and Barnesville hit big shot after big shot. Willow Thiel struggled to get many touches as she was held to 4 points and 2 fouls in the first half. Barnesville went into the break up 42-30.

Any sense that the Jackets could come out and change the course of the game was put on hold as Sophie Frederick hit 4 consecutive three-pointers and the Trojan lead jumped to 21. Perham clawed their way back into single digits and when Abby John fouled out with 4 minutes to go, a run ensued. But down 68-71 with just over 2 minutes to go, the Jackets missed 2 free throws and Barnesville came down and scored an and 1 to go up 6. The game ended 80-73 in Barnesville's favor as they iced it down the stretch.

Barnesville placed four girls in double figures Thursday night as they turned in an impressive 80-73 victory over the Perham Yellowjackets.  Abby John led the way with 23 points.  Ava Follingstad added 14, Sophie Frederick scored a dozen and Kenadee Gray had 10.  Lexi Hoeft and Aubryn Hinsz rounded out a balanced scoring attack by scoring nine points apiece.

While Barnesville shot extremely well, Perham struggled to get offensive fluidity. When they did get good looks or would draw fouls, they struggled to hit them, going 13-28 from the charity stripe. Thiel led the game with 25 points and 14 rebounds, while Kaia Anderson added 17, Cora Grismer 15, and Ryleigh Mickelson 9. The loss drops the Jackets to 5-2 on the season and is the first HOL conference loss since the 20-21 season, only the 2nd conference loss since February of 2020, and the first loss to a Section opponent since the 21-22 season.

Barnesville (4-2) will play at Osakis on Tuesday night.

Perham (5-2) will travel to East Grand Forks on Tuesday night.
