The Hancock girls’ basketball team took a 54-10 halftime lead on the way to an 84-30 victory in Battle Lake on Tuesday night.  “Their defense was just smothering all night and caused us to turn the ball over way too much,” noted Battle Lake Head Coach David Marso.  “Those turnovers led to easy baskets for them.”

Sophie Akerman led the Battlers with 12 points.

Kaitlyn Staples and Misti Zempel had 21 points each to lead the Owls.

“Hancock is just so athletic and skilled that we struggle to match up,” added Coach Marso.  “I am really proud of how our girls kept playing and were able to make some things happen in the second half.”

Hancock improved to 5-0 with the win.  They will host Parkers Prairie next Tuesday night in their next contest.

Battle Lake (1-4) is at Brandon-Evansville on Friday.
