The Underwood girls’ basketball team placed 3 players in double figures on Friday night as they cruised to a 78-41 victory over the Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Warriors in Wheaton.  The Rockets held a 39-31 halftime lead, but dominated the second half, outscoring the Warriors 39-10 over the final 18 minutes.

“Tale of two halves,” said Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland. “First half we struggled defensively in our rotations and Wheaton hit their open shots.  Second half we did a better job on both ends of the floor.  Ezrah Baker had a very good game on both ends of the floor. After sustaining a broken nose in Tuesday’s game vs Perham she only had a day to practice with a mask.  Tonight she showed great toughness and will to compete.”

Baker (22 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists) registered a double-double and was joined in double digits by Liz Lukken (21 points, 3 assists, 3 steals) and Trinity Baker (11 points, 3 assists).  Emma Dirkman contributed 8 points and 5 rebounds, and Kallyn Grove stuffed the stat sheet with 7 points, 6 rebounds, 7 blocks and 5 assists.

Underwood (3-1) will host Rothsay on Monday night in a Little Eight Conference contest.

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross (0-3) will host Parkers Prairie on Tuesday.
