Sabres Ride Fast Start to 7-2 Win Over Otter Boys

The Sartell-St. Stephen Sabres put 33 shots on the Fergus Falls net on Thursday night and scored 7 goals in a 7-2 victory over the Otters.  Fergus Falls had 21 shots on goal in the contest.

 

The Sabres got off to a fast start, scoring 3 times in the opening period.  Shaun Paulson got their first goal just 33 seconds in off a feed from Devin JacobsKyan Rieder’s goal at 2:45 was setup up by Tony Colatrella, and Brayden Klande made it 3-0 at 16:21 with Rieder assisting.

Sartell added a pair of goals in the second with Rieder scoring from Colatrella and Collin Otto netting their fifth goal from Caden Vos.  Fergus Falls got on the board when Braden Albert converted with assists from Samuel Dirkman and Griffin Babolian.

In the third period, Paulson scored from Klande at 7:10 and Vos scored an unassisted goal at 14:32 as the Sabres built their lead to 7-1.  Luke Norgard’s first varsity goal put the final at 7-2.  Kellen Stenstrom and Shane Zierden earned assists on the goal.

Tim Nanson came up with 26 saves in the Otter net.

Fergus Falls (1-2) will play at Sauk Rapids-Rice on Tuesday.
