Lady Cards Battle DeLaSalle in Tip-Off Classic at Hopkins

The Alexandria Cardinals played in the prestigious Tip Off Event on Saturday at Hopkins high school taking on the 3rd ranked Islanders of DeLaSalle in a girls’ basketball contest. It was an intense battle as the Cards tied the game at 51-51. Both teams jockeyed and the Islanders took the lead at 65-67. The Lady Cards were unable to recover and were forced to foul to extend the game which finished with DeLaSalle posting a 74-64 victory.

 

The Cardinals were 4-of-5 from the free throw line and the Islanders were 23-of-25 from the line… proving to be the difference as well as it resulted in foul trouble for the lady Cards. “We look forward to a rematch potentially in March as we continue to take the season one game at a time,” commented Head Coach Wendy Kohler. “We are very proud of our intensity and effort. This competition and difficult schedule will help prepare us.”

Scoring was led by Hadley Thul 22, Chloe Scholl 20, MaCee Linow 14, Allie Haabala 6, and Kate Hennessy 2. Rebounding leader was Chloe Scholl with 7 and Kate Hennessy 5. Scholl dished out 7 assists while Linow and Haabala each handed out 3. Scholl also pounced on 4 steals. Camree Miller and Hadley Thul were disruptive defensively recording 4 deflections each. Next up the lady Cards head to Sauk Rapids Tuesday to take on the Storm.
