The M State lady Spartans improved to 3-2 on the season with a 65-47 victory over Minnesota North-Rainy River on Saturday in Fergus Falls. Jayna Gronewold returned to the lineup, scoring 20 points, snagging 5 rebounds, dishing out 3 assists and coming away with 4 steals. Itzel Salazar added 11 points and Mia Blaskowski came off the bench to score 11 points and grab 9 rebounds.
The lady Spartans shot 32.3% (20/62) from the field and made 6-of-19 (31.6%) three pointers. The teams each had 29 rebounds.
Rainy River shot 32.1% (17/53) and made only 3-of-17 (17.6%) from beyond the arc. The lady Voyageurs were led by Maddie Lowe (20 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal). Cyra Polk had 8 points and Destiny Piekarski finished with 7 points and 8 rebounds.
M State will travel to Thief River Falls on Friday night and to Grand Rapids on Saturday afternoon.
