Minnesota North-Rainy River forced 22 Spartan turnovers and shot over 47% (34/72) from the field on Saturday afternoon as the Voyageurs recorded an 87-71 win over the M State Men. Rainy River, ranked eighth in the nation in NJCAA Division III, is now 8-1 on the season.
The Voyageurs were led by Christian Pujals (20 points, 6 rebound, 4 steals, 2 blocks), Malik Siggers (18 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals) and Khanye Bland (11 points, 3 rebounds.
Leaders for M State were Eric Gore (17 points, 11 rebounds), Mikele Kambalo (16 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists) and Tyson McArthur (10 points, 4 rebounds).
M State shot just 42% (26/62) on the night.
The Spartans (4-3) will travel to Thief River Falls to face Northland on Friday and then will go to Grand Rapids to battle Itasca in a 3:00pm contest on Saturday.
