The Ashby Arrows Boys Basketball Team lost its season opener to the Lake Park Audubon Raiders 55-53.  The winning hoop for the Raiders came on a stick back basket with four seconds remaining in the game.  The Arrows held a 51-47 lead with under two minutes to go.  The Raiders finished on an 8-2 run as the Arrows struggled to get a needed stop.

Senior post player Jake Norby led the Arrows with 23 points including a perfect 5 for 5 from the free throw line.  Junior point guard Easton Nelson was the only other Arrow to reach double figures, netting 16 points.  Senior forward Kellen Dahlen contributed 9 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.  Freshman Traeton Nelson made 5 points, and senior guard Richie Johnson and senior forward Fred Schlotfeld secured 5 and 3 rebounds, respectively.

Senior post player Colby Poegel led the Raiders scoring 14 second half points on the way to a 20-point game total.

“Poor shooting hurt us as we shot just 29% (15/52) for the game,” commented Head Coach John Holsten.  “We also had difficulty dealing with Poegel's physicality the last several possessions of the game.”

The Arrows travel to BBE Tuesday night to take on the Jaguars.
