Pelican Rapids won their Heart O’ Lakes Conference girls’ basketball opener on Friday night, recording a 58-39 victory over the Hawley Nuggets to improve their overall record to 2-0. The lady Vikings led 29-15 at the half. They were led by Morgan Korf (19 points, 3 assists, 7 rebounds, 3 steals).
Anna Roisum (10 points, 7 rebounds), Ellie Welch (9 points, 7 assists, 10 rebounds), Ari Hovland (7 points), Grace Backstrom (7 points) and Claudia Gurath (5 rebounds, 2 steals) also contributed to the win.
Pelican Rapids has road games at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on Thursday and at East Grand Forks on Saturday.
